BBC Breakfast sports reporter Chris Hollins has won this year's Strictly Come Dancing, beating favourite Ricky Whittle to the title.

The judges had favoured Whittle throughout the series - and he also came out ahead on points on final night - but Hollins and partner Ola Jordan triumphed in the public vote.

It's semi-final week and the competition is really hotting up. Only three couples remain – but who will get one step closer to holding the Strictly glitterball trophy?

Ali Bastian has become the latest contestant to get the boot from Strictly Come Dancing, after receiving the fewest votes from the public in this week's semi final.

Ali Bastian and partner Brian Fortuna received glowing praise from the judges, achieving the only perfect score of the night for their American smooth - their second perfect score of the series.

Judge Craig said of their performance: "One word, three syllables, starts with 'f' darling – fab-u-lous!"

Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle and BBC sports reporter Chris Hollins will now battle it out in next week's final.

If you've already got your Strictly finalists pegged, then there's good news for the voting public this week as the BBC announce that there will be no dance-off on Saturday night's semi-final.

Ordinarily, the two contestants with the lowest number of public votes then face the judges' decision once again, but come Saturday, the viewers' votes alone will decide their fate – and there'll be no second chances.
