American Idol General goes viral

On the same day the Brit awards snub SuBo, it looks as if this year's American Idol has thrown up an unlikely rival too.

The video of General Larry Platt singing his self-penned song Pants On The Ground at the show's Atlanta auditions has been viewed more than a million times on YouTube, just as the footage of her first Britain's Got Talent audition was a last year.

Within 48 hours of his appearance on television on Wednesday night, Platt's Pants On The Ground had been remixed and offered as a downloadable ringtone.

Spooks and Waking The Dead for the chop?

Two of the BBC's biggest shows could be axed in plans to shake up the channel's drama output.

Spooks and Waking The Dead could both come to an end, if reports are to be believed.

The BBC's head of drama Ben Stephenson recently outlined his new plans and announced several long-running shows would be culled, although he didn't say which ones.

Insiders, however, believe Spooks will be cancelled after its ninth series finishes this autumn. The MI5 drama once pulled in more than seven million viewers although the most-recent run, which finished in December, averaged less than five million.

Christine Bleakley to leave One Show?

Christine BleakleyChristine Bleakley, one half of the The One Show presenting duo, is set to leave the programme after being inundated with other offers.

Christine told workmates it's time for her to make a move from the BBC's teatime magazine show.

We're sure co-host Adrian Chiles will be sad to see her go, but Christine told a One Show source "the time was coming to move on".

Fern Britton fancied for O'Grady slot

Fern Britton could be making her return to daytime TV by taking over Paul O'Grady's daytime chat show.

The former This Morning presenter is thought to have had talks with Channel 4 bosses who think she would be perfect to host for the popular teatime show.

According to the Mirror, Fern, 52, is about to sign a £1million, two-year deal with the broadcaster.

Katia and Heidi evicted from Celebrity Big Brother

Katia Ivanova and Heidi Fleiss are the first housemates to be evicted from Celebrity Big Brother.

The ex-girlfriend of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood was first out, with no one inside the house shocked by the news. There was confusion later on, however, when they learned of the surprise second eviction.

It was then former-Hollywood madam Heidi found out she was next out of the door.

Heather makes posters to boost her Dancing On Ice bid

Heather Mills is so desperate to win Dancing On Ice she's made posters to promote her chances of winning.

She's taken to emailing the flyers around to her friends to encourage them to vote for her.

The flyers, which can be seen on The Sun website, read: "Heather Mills stars in Dancing on Ice.

"Support Heather. Watch the show to vote."

Katia favourite for Big Brother boot

Katia is the bookies' favourite to be the first housemate given the boot from the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Ivanova, the ex-girlfriend of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, is odds-on favourite to be evicted, with bookmaker William Hill pricing her at 4/9.

Two housemates will make their exit this evening, with former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss and rapper Lady Sovereign also facing the public vote.

Winstone: 'Sweeney film will not happen'

Ray Winstone has said the long-awaited film version of The Sweeney won't be coming to our screens any time soon - if at all.

The 52-year-old actor told Digital Spy financial problems were to blame for the demise of his big screen remake of the iconic Seventies police drama.

Smithy to massage Becks

James Corden and Ruth Jones might be adamant they've written their last Gavin And Stacey, but Smithy will soon be back. Or should that be Beck?

Corden will revive the character for a special Sport Relief sketch in which he will give David Beckham a massage.

The skit will feature the burly Essex boy giving Becks a rub down, and then receiving similar treatment in return from 'Golden Balls' himself.

BBC unveil season highlights

The BBC unveiled highlights of their Winter/Spring drama today, and from the looks of it, we shouldn't make too many plans to go out over the coming months.

Of course, Matt Smith will make his first full appearance in Doctor Who, Billie Piper comes over from ITV to star in A Passionate Woman and The Wire's Stringer Bell, Idris Elba, leaves Baltimore behind to tackle crime as Luther in the eponymous new take on police drama.
