James Corden to star in Doctor Who

James CordenThe new series of Doctor Who has added another star to its cast.

Gavin And Stacey's James Corden has been spotted learning lines for the hit show while on a train to the Who set in Cardiff.

Unable to keep his excitement to himself when quizzed by a fan, James revealed the secret.

Corden, who played Smithy in comedy Gavin And Stacey, will join the 11th Time Lord Matt Smith, who has replaced David Tennant as The Doctor.

A show insider told The Sun: "We normally keep our guest stars under wraps but you can't hide a bloke like James.

"And now he's not coming to Wales for Gavin And Stacey anymore, it's pretty obvious why he is here."

According to pals, James is a huge Doctor Who fan and jumped at the chance of appearing in the new series, which starts at Easter.

However, we are yet to find out if funnyman James will be The Doctor's friend or enemy.

The insider said: "James loves coming to Wales. And it gives him a chance to meet up with Ruth Jones, who co-wrote Gavin And Stacey with him and starred as Nessa."

Other notable comics to have appeared in Doctor Who include Peter Kay, Catherine Tate and Lee Evans, while James' Gavin And Stacey co-star Russell Tovey - Smithy's pal Budgie in the sitcom - appeared in the sci-fi hit as Alonso Frame and will have a recurring role in Torchwood.

What role do you think James will suit in Doctor Who?
