HBO Sets Premiere Date for 'The Life and Times of Tim'

On Feb. 19, The HBO animated comedy 'The Life and Times of Tim' will kick off its second season, Variety reports. The series, created by Steve Dildarian, has been off the air since Nov. 2008 but is currently producing 10 new episodes.

Dildarian voices Tim, a twentysomething New Yorker who gets in and out of awkward work and personal situations, often with his girlfriend, Amy (Mary Jane Otto). Each half-hour show consists of two 15-minute segments, and has included guest voices by the likes of Bob Saget and Jeff Garlin. Well-meaning Tim can't seem to avoid loose canon New Yorkers such as his boss at Omnicorp who, in one episode, requests that Tim pretend to be Hispanic. Tim also tries to help muggers, accidentally louses up the mailman's life and spars with an elderly man on the bus.

Before creating 'Tim' and acquiring a massive cult-like following for the show, Dildarian was an advertising copywriter famous for launching the Budwiser Lizards campaign and the animated 'Angry Unpaid Hooker' series, which was awarded the Best Animated Short at the 2006 Aspen Comedy Arts Festival. Dildarian's animation style is raw and almost jumpy, a minimal look that is more about plot than animation.

Last season, 'Tim' was stacked up with 'Summer Heights High'; now, HBO has decided it will work best with 'The Ricky Gervais Show,' a new half-hour animated series based off Gervais' comedy podcasts. The pairing is set to boost 'Tim' beyond the 1.2 million viewers per episode that it averaged in its first season.
