The X Factor, live shows, week four
Joe McElderry opens rock night with a convincing version of Don't Stop Believing.
"I loved seeing you move amongst the audience. You looked so comfortable and they adore you," said Dannii.
Louis agreed, saying: "On paper I didn't think it was going to work but you absolutely won me over. Don't stop believing because you WILL be in the final."
Simon tells Joe he is one of the most consistent performers but adds it was, "a little bit limp and stage school in parts."

Lucie Jones connects with her inner rock chick to sing Sweet Child of Mine.
"You are such a consistent performer in this competition," Louis says, adding: "Simon I think you owe her an apology."
"OK...The reason I didn't like you last week was because you were boring," says Simon. "You're a good singer but you've been made to be old fashioned. Tonight I take that back because you made yourself contemporary."
Cheryl agreed, saying: "Last week you totally won me over... and tonight I thought maybe you could be Avril Lavine. I was really impressed."
Dannii's smile says it all. " I'm so happy and proud!" she beams.

Danyl Johnson sings I Don't Want to Miss a Thing, but being in the bottom two last week has clearly knocked his confidence.
"You've lost your mojo," Dannii tells him, adding: "It was out of tune at the beginning."
Cheryl says: "I'm finding this uncomfortable to be honest. Being in the bottom two last week has obviously dented your confidence."
Simon says: "Here's the problem... If you come out confident, you're cocky and if you tone it down, it's not right... you are still undoubtedly one of the best singers in the competition and I genuinely hope the public vote for you."

Lloyd Daniels takes on I Kissed a Girl, accompanied by a bevy of beautiful dancers.
Dannii tells him. "It was a great performance but your voice was drowned out by the track at times."
Louis says: "You sang a pop song so you cheated."
Simon snaps at Louis, "You've got to stop believing that you create the rules in this competition because you're becoming so boring.
"The vocals in the beginning were bad, but it was a million times better than last week."
Cheryl says: "You're a little popstar... everyone loves you just how you are."
Rex Features
Stacey Solomon is up next, singing Somewhere Only We Know,
"I wasn't crazy about the song choice, it was a bit boring, but I love you," Louis tells her.
Cheryl doesn't agree, saying: "I loved that song choice for you. I would like to see more of your personality in your performance next week though."
Simon is more impressed with her walking than the singing. "It was extraordinary - like an X Factor miracle tonight – you walked!" he said.
Rex Features
Rocker Jamie Archer shows everyone how it's done, performing a rock song - in a rock style.
Dannii tells him: "You're absolutely in your element... you're an amazing performer and singer."
Louis agrees it was a great performance but says it was nothing original. "I've seen 100 guys singing what you do in pubs - you're like a Lenny Kravitz impersonator. You're not a real rocker."
Simon snaps back: "When was the last time you went into a pub Louis?... Of all the performances it was the most authentic. Jamie, you were terrific tonight."
Rex Features
Rachel Adedeji delivers an emotional version of One by U2.
"That was an incredible song choice," Louis tells her. "I didn't think it was a good idea on paper but you made it your own. It was emotional, soulful - in fact I thought it was the most emotional performance of the night."
Cheryl agreed, adding: "It was a very, very clever song choice because you got to show the soul in your voice."
Simon wasn't so keen: "Your whole look and therefore presentation made that song a bit cabaret."
Dannii had the final word, telling Rachel: "It was an amazing performance... you just sang, it was just about your voice."
Rex Features
John and Edward dress like teen vampires to deliver their own take on Queen's We Will Rock You.
"That was quite scary," Dannii tells them. "I think you almost needed a Sat Nav to find your way back to the lyrics. I look forward to seeing you every week, but not sure I would look forward to hearing you on the radio."
Simon tells them: "It was night of the living dead, singing Queen out of tune. I'll credit you with tenacity, you're thick skinned but you cannot, cannot defend that singing tonight Louis.
"These are two young kids living the dream," says Louis. "Nightmare," corrects Simon. Louis continues: "It was energetic, the audience loved it, it was exciting."
Rex Features
Olly Murs closes the show with Come Together - and rips his shirt open at the end.
"I have to say I absolutely adore you," Dannii tells him. "You are hot, hot, hot. The moves get better every week. You're vocals are consistently brilliant."
Louis says: "I think you're the dark horse in the competition. You're the one artist improving more than anyone."
For once Simon agrees with Louis, saying: "You are progressing better than just about everyone right now because you're getting more confidence, you're learning how to perform, you're sounding like an incredible artist. I'm very proud you."
Rex Features
Rock veterans Boni Jovi open Sunday night's results show, performing their come back single We Weren't Born To Follow from their new album The Circle.

This pair of talentless kids from Dublin are a disgraceful embarrassment to Ireland. When I think of all the fantastic music and artists that have emerged from the Emerald Isle, (Are these two really so blinded by falsehoods, glitter and pretence and can they really be that ignorant)Surely, they must realise they are only just about worthy of some drunken, poor Karaoke bar in Drumcondra or Rathfarnham somewhere after closing time. where nobody cares except you two eejits. I had the misfortune of seeing acts like yours and happily walked back into the real world afterwards. Suggest you go there soon.
Have they ever listened to themselves objectively? They are a sick joke. That's it. Go home boys. THIS SHOW IS NO LONGER BASED ON TALENT which is the only reason you have lasted this long. And please what the hell was your pathetic rendition of Britney's song all about. Don't believe the hype. You really, truly are crap (and I'm sure your family loves you because they have that biased blindness too, which I can understand)and you should go back to which ever side of the Liffey that will have you.Good luck in whatever non-intrusive career you may enjoy. I just hope you never show up on TV again.
PS : I don't hate you guys - you have just accepted the 'pumped up - hideously inaccurate well-wishing, manipulative reasons why you have no right to have lasted longer than a few nano seconds. You've had your glimpse of fame. NOW GO AWAY!
There is a real life waiting for both of you if you can grow up.

I totally agree with everything u say about these guys, the show is about talent. They not only sing out of tune but, they can't even dance they often forget their steps. I don't hate them or anything like that they r just young boys but, Louis is wrong to lead them on he must be living in cloud cukoo land to think they can win there is so much talent on this year they have no chance. I don't know anybody who has voted for them so who is keeping them in? Good luck to the rest of them I hope not another good singer goes out this week.

well@63yrs I have enjoyed X-factor until now! love new talent, but we seem to be sending them home, for no talent, WHAT IS GOING ON? Louie Walsh what are you up to? the fact you have let these boys in is an insult to the groups you mentor. lovely boys but give them a break and do not put them through this farce.
I felt this year we had so much talent, and you all have allowed them to be sent home for a no talent! No matter if the public are voting, just be aware some voters are playing yours and Simons game, but it could destroy the show we love,

I agree with Kevin, this is supposed to be a talent show, these two have no talent and should leave,
Sophie Oluwole at 2:44PM on Nov 6th 2009
I agree with everything Kevin has said about the talentless pair however, I think they are there to keep the interest of the viewers and the phone calls coming in, hence more money for the show.Simon is aware that the more he critises them, the more the viewers will vote for them even if it means that the talented people such as Rachel had to go which is really unfair. I only wish that Simon would help those talented competitors who have been dismissed ealy to have a go at recording because they could turn out to be the real stars as the show is in danger of losing further talented people every week. If the Dublin pair are returned on Sunday, I for once will stop watching this comedy show.
I wonder what Simon will do if it backfires on him and they go on to win although I think that is not possible as he will change tactics when the competition is coming to the end because he knows he cannot take them to America as the winners so rather than criticise them this time,he will praise them instead for their efforts making the viewers now less interested in the pair and therefore go on to lose the competition but the show would have made loads of money from us viewers.
